Research Centres and Initiatives
Through its research centres and initiatives, the Sobey School of Business is pioneering research that is important to the business community. The central focus of much of this research is on how to create better workplaces, by gaining insights into how organizations work and determining how to help them work better.
Our CN Centre for Occupational Health and Safety and the Centre for Leadership Excellence are very visible successes both in terms of the research grants they've secured and in the private- and public-sector partners they've attracted. The Sobey School is closely involved with two other research initiatives still in their infancy. The Canadian Centre for Ethics and Public Affairs (CCEPA) is just beginning to develop its public profile, with the recent hosting of events such as a talk by Canada's Auditor General Sheila Fraser this past winter and a bioethics conference this May. The Centre for Work and Spirituality was launched in June 2005. It has since been promoting its mission through public speaking events, workshops, scholarly meetings, courses, and community outreach
To highlight the exciting scholarly work being done by faculty, the Sobey School of Business will launch an electronic journal this fall. The Workplace Review will focus on the central theme of the challenges and opportunities surrounding work, working and the workplace. It will feature research that is current and relevant, with a high potential for immediate application and impact.
